Gold for the University of Bath at the European Universities Rowing Championship 2025
Nine universities represented GB in Poland last weekend, bringing home three medals across three days of racing
The European Universities Rowing Championships took place in Bydgoszcz, Poland from 18 – 21 September. Travelling to represent the UK were University of Birmingham BC, University of Bath BC, University of Surrey BC, University of Sussex BC, University of the West of England BC, Queen’s University Belfast BC, Glasgow Caledonian University BC, Oxford University BC and University of Exeter BC.
The University of Bath shone through with gold in the Women鈥檚 Quadruple Sculls A Final, finishing the 1000m race in a time of 3:16.44 ahead of crews from the Czech Republic and Croatia. The boat was crewed by Ella Fullman, Beatrice Hughes, Rebekah Court and Freya Ridge.
Speaking on their win, South West GB Performance Development Coach Tom Selby said: “The Women鈥檚 Quad delivered one of the most exciting races of the EUSA regatta. The crew showed outstanding aggression and intensity in a fiercely close contest. In a thrilling final, they held their composure and powered through to secure the gold medal.”

Bath took home a further medal in the Men鈥檚 Quadruple Sculls, when their Henley Royal Regatta Prince of Wales crew of Jack Norton, William Stradling, Ben Furley and Luka Halozan Hayley pushing across the line to snatch bronze from Germany鈥檚 Tech Uni of Dresden. This meant Bath finished seventh overall in the EUSA medal table.
The final GB medal of the weekend was brought home by Queen鈥檚 University Belfast BC, who won bronze in the Lightweight Men鈥檚 Double Sculls with Adam McKinley and Benedict Weis.

Kathryn Mole and Claudia Rossington of University of Birmingham BC narrowly missed out on bronze in the Women鈥檚 Double Sculls A Final, placing .4 of聽 a second behind Masaryk University (CZE).
The University of Surrey EUSA representatives
GB had two boats in the A Final of the Lightweight Men鈥檚 Pairs, with University of Surrey BC (William James Horsburgh Burns and Henry Clowes) placing fifth and Queens University Belfast BC (Tim Porteous and Cameron Henderson) in sixth.
The Lightweight Women鈥檚 Single Sculls field saw three UK universities race in the A Final, with Ava Robertson (Glasgow Caledonian University BC), Hazel Wake (University of Oxford BC) and Florence Humphrey Weeks (University of Exeter BC) placing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Making the Women’s Quadruple Sculls A Final alongside Bath, Ella Oldland, Darcie Nash, Amelia Flaxman and Cari Meredith of University of Birmingham BC finished in sixth.
