Be in the room where it happens: take your seat alongside the GB Rowing Team at the British Rowing Indoor Championships
The GB Rowing Team will descend on the NEC, Birmingham to take part in the biggest in-person indoor rowing competition in the world

The GB Rowing Team had a glittering summer, bringing home the most medals from the World Rowing Championships with three gold, four silver and one bronze. Now they鈥檝e set their sights on a different challenge over 2000m; the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC), and you could be there, racing alongside some of the best athletes in the world!
A 2000m indoor rowing test is nothing new to the GB Rowing Team. The ultimate benchmark for the sport, rowers can recite their 2K erg scores dating back years, and how well they perform is a major contributing factor in crew selection. Minimum standards are set for those hoping to make the Team – and for both the Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 squads, their BRIC scores will be used as their 2000m selection for ergometer performance two weeks before December Trials.

The British Rowing Indoor Championships is an adrenaline-packed test of fitness, taking place in front of a cheering crowd. Competitors step onto the race floor and compete over 2,000m, 500m and timed races. On Sunday 7 December the event becomes Super Sprint Sunday with races finishing in under 13 seconds alongside team relays.
BRIC will play host to a myriad of impressive athletes. The men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 Concept2 100m World Records have recently been obliterated in quick succession; both 500m World Indoor Champion V谩r Guriard贸ttir Hansen and two-time World Indoor Champion Lo茂c Schalbetter will be taking to the race floor on 6 December.

Both the Paralympic and Olympic Pathways will be out in full force, with those already on Programmes designed to develop athletes for the GB Rowing Team travelling to Birmingham in December from their clubs and GB Performance Development Academies. Last year鈥檚 Open 2000m Champion Josh Knight represented Minerva Bath BC and the South West GB Performance Development Academy. Josh defended his 2023 title when he finished with a time of 5:47.6; 2024 Olympic Champion Lauren Henry took the Women鈥檚 crown, finishing in a time of 6:40.9.
