Building on previous successes, such as the yearly interactive indoor rowing experience offered by EXR at the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC), EXR will continue to play an active role at BRIC and similar events, showcasing the synergy of technology and gamification on the rowing machine.

Rooted in the exceptional feedback of both beginner rowers and seasoned athletes, British Rowing will continue to host monthly virtual group rows and racing events in the EXR app, inviting rowers from all around the world, using multiple different indoor rowing machine types, to participate and train together in these online community happenings.

On top of this, EXR aims to expand its collaboration with rowing clubs across the United Kingdom through the endorsement of British Rowing. By working closely with local clubs, both partners support rowers of all ages in their indoor and outdoor learn to row journey and help clubs and participants connect with worldwide audiences through virtual engagement.

Alfred Campenaerts, CEO of Salty Lemon Entertainment, the game development studio behind EXR, said: “British Rowing is a trusted partner, sharing our vision of making indoor rowing accessible to people of all backgrounds. With indoor rowing being an integral part of improving on-the-water performances, we were delighted to share the inspirational story of GB rowers Georgie Brayshaw and Matthew Haywood preparing for the Paris Olympics 2024, highlighting how local grassroots initiatives can lead to extraordinary accomplishments on the world stage.”

Chris Farrell, Head of Community at British Rowing said: “We are thrilled to continue our on-going partnership with EXR. Working together we have been helping more people have the chance to get started in rowing, rowing more regularly using the app connecting and training with other people virtually worldwide, whether that is for fun, fitness, health or competition. We are so excited to continue to work with EXR over this next year both at BRIC 2025 in December, via new grassroot developments in our Sport England participation work nationally, as well as continuing to use this innovative gamification technology to help inspire member growth, making it easier, more accessible, and more rewarding for both existing members and new people to have a flexible way to go rowing and stay in the sport for longer.”

Moving forward to the next chapter of their partnership, British Rowing and EXR look forward to strengthening their joint impact.

This partnership brings cutting-edge performance technology to the GB Rowing Team, as it continues to push the boundaries of elite training and competition.

‘ advanced technology analyses detailed motion data through a web app, allowing coaches to monitor the boat’s performance during day-to-day training, and by doing so to detect the rowers’ strengths and weaknesses. The analysis helps to adapt the practice sessions accordingly in order to prepare the athletes efficiently for competitions.

Dr Benedikt Fasel, Archinisis CEO, said: “The collaboration with British Rowing gives us a chance to evolve our system in step with world-class athletes – it’s where innovation meets impact.”

By appointing Archinisis as a data partner, British Rowing has gained access to an innovative performance and analysis solution. As the organisation responsible for the training and selection of rowers to represent Great Britain, we aim to deliver results on the world stage. Archinisis’ technology gives coaches and support staff the tools they need to elevate athlete training and aim for gold.

Dr Jodi Cossor, British Rowing Head of Performance Support, said: “This partnership brings us closer to unlocking every athlete`s full potential through meaningful, and actionable insight. The ability to view the data on multiple boats real-time during training enables coaches to have an awareness of all crews and adapt sessions if necessary.”

Great Britain has won a total of 78 Olympic and 14 Paralympic medals including gold at every Paralympic Games since 2008, when rowing was first added to the Paralympic programme. The partners’ shared goal is clear: raise the quality of training and ensure elite-level performance – now and on the road to LA 2028.
